Sketchtober ONE (Life’s a bony cabaret!)

Welcome to Sketchtober! I’m doing a brand-new ink drawing for every day of October 2020. This first round-up of my daily Sketchulence finds Mr Skeleton channelling Liza in a rather fabulous manner.

This year I’m going with Sketchtober for my October daily drawing challenge (the previously popular hashtag having reportedly proven problematic*).

All this month, I’m going to be “debuting” each day’s picture on Instagram, then rounding them up with a weekly gallery post here on

Here is my first trio of pictures for Sketchtober. If you put pen to paper this month, I would love to see the results!

White rabbits! An apt way to kick off this month of art. And a very happy new month to you, gentle reader! I trust that October 2020 is off to a more than decent start for you?

Life’s a rather bony cabaret, old chum! In which Mr Skeleton puts in his first Sketchtober 2020 appearance, somewhat fabulously channelling Liza Minelli in Cabaret.

I can’t wait to see where pen and ink take me next! Join me each Saturday throughout October 2020 for weekly round-ups of these daily art excursions. And if you fancy putting pen to paper to produce some #Sketchulence…. well, why not give it a try right now? I’d love to see what you come up with!

* This lovely video from Kattvalk includes some words about how the previously widely used tag for the daily October drawing challenge has become problematic in 2020. Quite apart from that, I love Marie’s honesty here in being willing to share a rare day when she has a tough time trying to draw. We’ve all been there, Marie… may the ink flow freely and successfully from your pen today!
