A few personal highlights from December 2025, captured in tiny wee snapshots.
This is my latest monthly selection of snapshots of things that caught my eye over these past few weeks, comprising the month of December 2025.
Wednesday 3 December 2025: Of dogs and drama

Meg in profile avec Xmas tree.

Ashdown Forest skies bringing the drama.
Saturday 6 December 2025: Gig ticket memories

My blog post Nirvana Live in London 1989 (#GigTicketMemories) talks about from my first ever grunge gig… plus my surprise discovery 36 years later that there exists a photograph with both Kurt Cobain and me in the same frame.

And here is that very same 1989 vintage ticket stub, which brought the memories flooding back. And yes, this ticket to see Nirvana and two other bands (namely Tad and Mudhoney, the latter of whom were the headliners of this Sub Pop Records Lame Fest show) really did cost only £6!.

Winter’s stark silhouette.
Saturday 13 December 2025: Merry Xmoss!

Some particularly impressive tree trunk moss, spotted in my local park.
Friday 19 December 2025: Unseasonal winged visitor

A highly unusual but very welcome sight from a wee bit earlier today: a bee out and about in the December sun. I very much hope that this bee was able to find warm shelter when the weather suddenly remembered it was meant to be deepest winter, right before Xmas.

One further bee photograph, this time a tad more on the fuzzy side.
Saturday 20 December 2025: Top five time!

In case you might have missed it, last Saturday’s post rounded up the top 5 posts on MJCarty.com over this past year. My heartfelt gratitude to you if you have taken the time to read any words on this wee blog of mine.
Tuesday 23 December 2025: Winter’s winds awaken

Gentle reader: I am glad that it is impossible for me to reproduce the above picture in full sensurround chill-o-vision. The softly watercolour-esque tones of the above Ashdown Forest scene do nothing to convey just how freezing cold it was in the whipping winter wind. Some things are best experienced in just the two dimensions.
Thursday 25 December 2025: The Queen’s speech

Meg catching some rays on a freezing cold Xmas day afternoon in the Ashdown Forest.
