MJCarty snapshots November 2025

Spiders, unseasonal bees and witches in trees! A few personal highlights from November 2025, captured in tiny wee snapshots.

This is my latest monthly selection of snapshots of things that caught my eye over these past few weeks, comprising the month of November 2025 (but starting with a pic or two from the closing days of October, taken after my previous monthly photographic round-up).

Monday 27 October 2025: Skies of significant moodiness

The sun’s rays cut through the chilly air to illuminate the Ashdown Forest.

Tuesday 28 October 2025: Unseasonal bee

It was unexpected and delightful to see a bee enjoying a wee spot of late-October sunshine. I do hope that said bee is by now safely tucked up away from the onset of winter proper.

Friday 31 October 2025: Happy tree witch

Saw this very happy and contented-looking witch hanging out on a tree on my early Halloween morning walk .

Saturday 1 November 2025: A suited MJCarty

What do you love most about the work you get to do? I ask (and answer as it applies to me) this question in my post For the love of work?.

Friday 7 November 2025: Every bit as chilly as it looks

Serving moody, misty realness a la Ashdown Forest.

Monday 8 November 2025: Green spider

Spotted in my garden just now – a tiny wee green spider, which a quick Google suggested could well have been a cucumber spider. However, when I shared this pic via Threads I received a number of helpful responses telling me that it was more than likely some form of crab spider.

Thursday 13 November 2025: Let sleeping dogs lie

The lovely Meg, fast asleep.

Tree silhouetted by setting sun, a la Ashdown Forest.

Monday 17 November 2025: Deceptively clement

“LOL” ground carving of perhaps recent vintage (not the work of your humble correspondent), from the floor of the Ashdown Forest.

A deceptively clement (as the reality was severely cold due to a strong wind of what felt like arctic harshness) picture of part of the Ashdown Forest, from pretty much the same spot as the picture from Friday 7 November 2025, above.

Saturday 22 November 2025: Dawn aflame

Sunrise veritably burning up the sky on this particular freezing cold Saturday morning.

Monday 24 November 2025: Paint the whole world

I stepped out of my door on this particular wet and windy Monday afternoon, and immediately saw the biggest, boldest and clearest rainbow that I have ever beheld. This photograph sadly only hints at how spectacular this was to witness in real life. I think it was something else I’d never previously encountered: a triple rainbow. You can see the faint outline of one ‘additional’ rainbow above the main one in the picture above. But there was also a third one just a little above the horizon level (which refused to show up on virtual film). This was such a privilege to see!
