MJCarty snapshots September 2025

Sizeable arachnids, sleepy fox cubs and the year’s first servings of autumnal realness. A few personal highlights from September 2025, captured in tiny wee snapshots.

This is my latest monthly selection of snapshots of things that caught my eye over these past few weeks, comprising the month of September 2025. Looking back over these pictures, I think you can see autumn starting to creep in as the month progresses.

Monday 1 September 2025: In which September makes its debut

Debut pre-dawn sky for September 2025, with some of the night’s stars still visible.

Saturday 6 September 2025: On the not-drinking of alcohol

Gentle reader: A question for you, and just you. What is your relationship with alcohol? (I decided to reshare my post on not drinking in September 2025, as this month marks seven years since I stopped drinking. If you are contemplating your relationship with alcohol and perhaps thinking about cutting down or even quitting, it can be done, when the time is right for you.)

A bathing Meg, taking a break from the early-September heat in an Ashdown Forest pool.

Monday 8 September 2025: Oakful perspectives

The view from under an Ashdown Forest oak on a particularly fine afternoon.

Tuesday 9 September 2025: The fullest of moons

The full moon (with a small suspicion of lens flare) as seen on my early morning walk.

Wednesday 10 September 2025: Meg in repose

The lovely Meg at rest, gazing with eyes abrim with soul, seemingly unfussed by my wife’s toy sausage dog behind her.

Thursday 11 September 2025: Rainbow connection

In which a pretty decent partial rainbow appears over the forest right .

Saturday 13 September 2025: Fawlty at 50

I shared a blog post about the not-so-immaculate conception of Basil Fawlty to mark this month’s 50th anniversary of the broadcast of the very first episode of Fawlty Towers. I found the above image of a ticket to the filming of the second episode of Fawlty Towers on Wikimedia Commons.

Thursday 18 September 2025: Fox aslumber

A very rare sight indeed – a fox cub aslumber in my garden in the mid-afternoon. I hope that their fox dreams were pleasant ones.

Saturday 20 September 2025:

Gentle reader: What do you think needs to change? What one change would make the biggest improvement to your life, or to the lives of those you love, or to the general good of the world? These questions are posed in my blog post What results do you expect?

Monday 22 September 2025: Significantly sizeable spider

This rather sizeable spider took up residence on a wall in my house for a good portion of this particular September Monday. You will have to take my word for it that it was a very large spider indeed.

Tuesday 23 September 2025: Meg at large!

I got to dogsit for the lovely Meg today. She was as good as gold while scaffolders did their noisy thing on my house. And later that day, she was so good as to allow me to accompany her on an autumnal walk in the park. Thank you, Meg!
