MJCarty snapshots August 2025

Of Lancaster bombers, concealed cows and potentially misguided microwave advice. A few personal highlights from August 2025, captured in tiny wee snapshots.

This is my latest monthly selection of snapshots of things that caught my eye over these past few weeks, comprising the month of August 2025.

Thursday 31 2025: July’s final dawning

A beautiful pre-dawn sky to herald the final day of July. Extremely heavy rain followed soon after, and stuck around to see out that particular month.

Saturday 2 August 2025: Looking for attention?

“Perhaps attention for you is like sunlight to a flower, essential for you to flourish to your fullest. Perhaps attention for you is something you resist or do your best to avoid. Perhaps attention for you is somewhere between those two extremes.” Words from my blog post What kind of attention do you want?

Tuesday 5 August 2025: Red dawn

Red sky at morning.

Wednesday 6 August 2025: Pinkness

Pre-dawn tones for Wednesday (pink edition).

Saturday 9 August 2025: Pinkandpurpleness

Pink and purple tones sweep through the sky, a wee bit earlier this Saturday morning.

Wednesday 13 August 2025: Concealed cow

Hiding in plain sight, just one of the masters of disguise that are the cows of the Ashdown Forest.

Friday 15 August 2025: The pink awakens

Pink dawn.

I had the good fortune to find a one pound coin in a Lidl car park. Finding stray coinage of any kind is an evermore rare occurrence in this increasingly cashless age.

Sunday 17 August 2025: Please don’t try this at home

I took receipt of these off-brand silver foil trays ordered from Amazon, the packaging of which would seem to suggest that they are safe for use in the microwave! Gentle reader: I have chosen not to put this matter to the test.

A particularly fine example of the radish, as harvested from my garden.

A Lancaster bomber happened to fly past my house on this particular mid-August afternoon.

Tuesday 19 August 2025: Moody moon

Moody pre-dawn sky with crescent moon.

Friday 22 August 2025: The August flypast continues

Continuing the old war ‘plane flypast theme for this month, a Spitfire wending its way through the skies over my garden.

Monday 25 August 2025: Arachnid sunbather

An eight-legged friend enjoying the bank holiday sunshine.

In which the shadow of an MJCarty falls upon the Ashdown Forest floor.

Wednesday 27 August 2025: Meg in repose

The lovely Meg, resting up post-Ashdown Forest perambulation.

Thursday 28 August 2025: A hint of rainbow

Following a particularly heavy deluge, a partial rainbow appeared in the sky for a few brief moments.
