Queens’ heads, wolf moons and hints of spring. A few personal highlights from February 2024, captured in tiny wee snapshots.
This is my latest monthly selection of snapshots of things that caught my eye over these past few weeks, comprising the month of February 2024. We actually start with a few pictures from the tail end of January, picking up from the day I published my previous monthly set of snapshots.
Saturday 27 January 2024: Wolf moon

On my early morning walk, I was privileged to see the beautiful sight of the January 2024 wolf moon illuminating a dead-of-night vapour trail.
Sunday 28 January 2024: Two queen’s heads

While out walking I spotted two pound coins lying lost in the gutter, glinting in the almost spring-like January sunshine.
Monday 29 January 2024: One queen’s head

It was my pleasure and privilege to dogsit the lovely Meg today. This was only the third time in my life that I had taken a dog for a walk while unaccompanied by any other humans… but I am pleased to report that I seem to be getting the hang of it!
Tuesday 6 February 2024: And one further queen’s head

Rather astonishingly, I happened across one more poor lost pound while out walking.
Sunday 11 February 2024: Here comes the sun

This Sunday started with what felt like the first actual, proper sunrise around here in way too long.
12 February 2024: Almost a taste of spring

Some wee crocuses, enjoying (as was I, on that particular day) some almost spring-like sun!
Monday 19 February 2024: Distant moon

As the sun started to set, the moon was clearly visible in the sky, while – significantly closer to where I was on the surface of Planet Earth – a very pleasingly shaped fluffy cloud rolled past.
Friday 23 February 2024: London (under moody skies)

Yesterday (Friday 23 February 2024), I made my way in to London, to meet a dear friend for lunch. Arriving an hour or so early, I went for a walk across London Bridge, from whence I snapped this picture of Tower Bridge beneath a distinctly moody cloudscape.

Once on the other side of London Bridge, I popped by the beautiful ruins of St Dunstan’s church.

It was an absolute delight to have a long overdue catch-up with my good friend Zuraida, over lunch. Cheers!
